I've updated Boss Battles so the capture point now deals a set percentage of damage to the Boss over the course of 30 seconds. So right now, capturing the point will deal damage equal to 20% of the Boss's total health. We're just trying out 20% for the moment, and we welcome suggestions on changing it.

Also, the capture point shoots a GIANT LASER at the boss as an effect.

Update: The amount of damage dealt is no scaled by the number of times the point has been captured, starting at 15%.

Bad idea. The fact that the Scientist can easily cap the point is bad enough, but back then it at least allowed the boss to not take damage. Granted, it caused people to camp and wait it out, but it was certainly better than this.
I still think the Cap point should be for the boss. It kept people from camping and hiding and wasn't OP. Yes, I know people camped the "EJECT" button to keep the boss off, but the "EJECT" button was never properly made in the first place so either the boss would just fall straight back down and continue capping until he won or something else happened.

I agree with Trifront. The crit system is still a lot better then this, in my opinion. At the very least, the damage should be reduced.

I LOVE this idea...... the crit. system I personally think in lame and this is the perfict way to make it good, ( although i do/ did like the boss cap its still pretty cool!

Capturing the point should go in both ways.
If the boss captures the point it should reduced the remaining time, now that it's in the boss's favor.

After actually taking some time to create a formulated response instead of just saying I like it or don't, the new idea could work, but I see several downsides with it.

The first one is the actual health of the bosses. 20% against a tank boss like Badspot is somewhat reasonable in my eyes. However, 20% against a boss that doesn't have the luxury of being hit and being able to shrug it off, like DS and SC, the amount of damage that the cap does would need to be reduced to something around 10%.

The second issue I see is the aforementioned one arisen by Trifront. The scientist can, with the aid of a couple others, easily cap the point. While yes, this would cause the boss to be forced to take action instead of stalling/sitting back/whatever, this basically ensures that damage will be taken. And when you have a boss that has little HP, again DS and SC and even Kaje, they can't really afford to do something like that, yet they have no choice. I haven't played on it in a while, but it seems to me that playing as those three bosses would become very difficult, to the brink of unplayable.

Now I'm going to go over what I was doing a month ago; speaking to players about some sort of "damage the boss upon cap" idea. Not yet refined, I got many more viewpoints to see what the best way to do this was. However, many players still thought crits were a better system, but never told me why. So let me get this straight, having crits for 30s while the boss ran is better than injuring the boss for 20% of his health over 30s. Crits are good. Why? Medic doesn't get a bonus from crits unless using his ubersaw, Constructor doesn't get sentry crits, Sniper doesn't get SMG crits, but those aside, I've yet to hear the argument on why crits are best. Any smart boss will run when the point is capped, so it's half a minute of doing nothing, as the only bosses who can't instantly escape are Kaje and Penth. The only reason any boss actually goes to the cap if it has crits, is to hit the detonation or stall some more. Or both. The damage can easily be lowered as well. But I want to hear why crits are so amazing. Half a minute of doing nothing on 7/9 bosses is a thing we should keep?
